Catherine Spengler 1931 – 2022 Springfield Catherine Felicia (Boyle) Spengler, of Springfield, MA passed away peacefully on September 21, 2022, in Springfield, MA. Catherine was born in Auburn, MA on November 22, 1931, the daughter of the late James and Ellen (Devereux) Boyle. Catherine graduated from Cathedral High School and received her R.N. from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, both in Springfield, MA. Catherine was a Registered Nurse for nearly 40 years, working at Mercy Hospital, and Wesson Maternity Hospital, both in Springfield, MA. She met her husband, Robert Spengler, while in nursing school, and they were married in 1954. She later lived in Manchester, MO, Salem, NH, Oak Ridge TN, and Reading, MA, where she worked at Lawrence General Hospital in Lawrence, MA until retiring. She was a communicant of St. Catherine of Siena Church and was active with their Women’s Guild. She enjoyed spending time with her extended family and having coffee with her good friends and sisters at Friendly’s every Friday. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile. Catherine is survived by her children, Mark and Lisa Spengler of Tewksbury, MA, Matthew and Donna Spengler of Derry, NH, Susan Biscomb and Betsy King of Springfield, MA. She also leaves her grandchildren Jesse and Jamie Biscomb of Pawtucket, RI, Valerie and Sean Nadeau and their children, Callum and Teagan of Haverhill, MA, and Ian King of South Portland, ME. Also, sisters Patricia Lucey and Sheila McLaughlin of Reading, MA, Noreen Whitcomb of East Longmeadow, MA, sisters-in-law Mary Boyle of Biddeford, ME and Claire Boyle of Plainville, MA, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband of 48 years, Catherine was predeceased by her brothers James, Tom, Bernard and Gene Boyle, sisters Mary Ellison and Teresa Boyle, and nephew Richard Lucey. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, September 27, 2022, at one o’clock p.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 1023 Parker St., Springfield, MA. Burial will be private. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, or the charity of your choice. Arrangements entrusted to Sampson’s Chapel of the Acres, 21 Tinkham Rd., Springfield, MA.
